Description for Anemone The Governor (Red)

Anemone is perennial flowering plant that have basal leaves with long leaf-stems that can be upright or prostrate. A scarlet beauty with shiny red petals and a black center that is set off by a white halo. A great cut flower and an attractive companion for tulips and other spring bulbs.

Planting and care


  • Plant Anemone bulbs in rainy and winter season.
  • Soak Anemone bulbs for 2-4 hours in a cup or small bowl of water. This will encourage them to sprout faster and get growing.
  • Plant the bulbs in well-drained, moderately fertile soil in full sun or partial shade.
  • Before planting, loosen the soil and add compost in the soil to increase its fertility.
  • Plant the bulbs 2-3 cm deep and a minimum of 4-6 cm apart.
  • Set the bulb in the hole with the pointy end up.
  • After planting cover the bulb with soil and water thoroughly.
  • Use the potting mix for bulb plantation are in the ratio :
    1. Garden soil + Compost + Perlite + Sand (2:2:1:1).
2. Soil + Cocopeat + vermicompost (2:1:2).


Sunlight: Full Sun
Soil: Well-drained and fertile soil
Water: Keep soil moist throughout the growing season.
Temperature: An ideal temperature is 20 - 25 degrees C.
Fertilizer: Apply any organic fertilizer during planting of bulbs.

Caring for Anemone The Governor

  • Water a plant when the soil feels dry to touch.
  • Water thoroughly in the summer and reduce watering for the winter & rainy season.
  • Try to water the plants in the morning around 8-10am.
  • Remove dead, infected or damaged plant parts and throw in the garbage collector.
  • Fertilize the plant during planting and growing season with organic fertilizer.
  • Store the bulbs away from sunlight in a cool and dry area and check regularly.
  • Do not store bulbs for more time as they can loose their viability.
